This basic introduction class taught by Noreen Flack, Resident Teacher at KMC Austin, will offer insights on the benefits and importance of retreat as well as structure and confidence in planning our retreat experience.

Guru yoga is an especially powerful method for receiving the blessings of the Buddhas and increasing our merit. By following the Sutra path alone it would take a thousand aeons to accumulate the vast amount of merit needed to attain Buddhahood, but, as Sakya Pandita observed, by wholeheartedly practicing Guru yoga we can accumulate the same amount of merit in the brief span of one human life.

Join Resident Teacher, Noreen Flack, during this introductory talk followed by two guided retreat sessions.

Guru yoga is an especially powerful method for receiving the blessings of the Buddhas and increasing our merit.

Karma is a vast topic in Buddhist practice but Buddha didn’t create the concept of karma, he simply revealed the inner workings of the mind as he discovered them. Negative karma that has been accumulated over many lives can often create obstacles along our spiritual practice and express itself in many suffering experiences. During this retreat, Resident Teacher Noreen Flack will share Buddha’s advice for purifying negative karma through the practice of Vajrasattva purification. In this way we can remove the negative karma we have accumulated over many lifetimes.

Followed by unguided retreat Nov 13-16.
